Blue Dye and the Guaifenesin Protocol

blue dye-1This is a Caution Item! Blue dye has been found to keep some people from clearing on the Guaifenesin Protocol.

It started out as people on Mucinex weren’t clearing well. Now we have heard from 2 reliable sources Dr St Amand is telling his patients to cut all blue (and purple) dye out of topical products and all medication. See his post on Guaifenesin and Blue Dye here: Fibromyalgia Treatment Center.

(Thanks to TKB Trading LLC for the photo.)

What’s going on is blue dye interferes with ATP and mitochondria(our energy producers), which we need in order to clear. It’s not a salicylate, but it stalls clearing in enough people that Dr St Amand has taken note of it and tells us not to use it. Slowing down energy production is especially bad in people with fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome since we are already exhausted and sick. Knowing this about blue dye is wonderful!

Not to mention how unhealthy it is in general! I decided to look it up and it is a toxin and so bad for us, I’m really glad we’ve been made aware of this. Not just for the protocol, but for health in general!

I have heard from a patient of Dr St Amand who has said that she was not clearing on some blue dye 1 in her shampoo. He has advised her to stop using this shampoo. Also, a friend who runs another Guaifenesin Protocol support group emailed him and directly asked him to clarify this, his reply was to avoid all blue dies in everything. Apparently there have been 3 people even block on blue nail polish!

Please note, in the UK, they are listed by a CI number, so you will need to look for more than just the color name. Click here for the full list. Here’s the ones so far that we know are blues:

CI 42051: Acid Blue 3; Patent Blue V

CI 60730: Ext. D&C Violet No. 2

CI 42090: FD&C Blue 1; D&C Blue 4

CI 77742: Manganese Violet

CI 60725: D&C Violet No. 2

CI 77007: Ultramarine

I am not sure if there is some trick to figuring it out other than looking up each number. Even products that LOOK clear can have blue dye, so you will need to check all the ingredients of all your products again. We are in the works of reviewing all our lists of guai-safe products now, so hang in there, we are working on this!

The most likely to impede progress is blue dye in meds and vitamins, so definitely stay away from those. If you are being mapped by a trained mapper and know that you are clearing well, then this is not something you need to worry about. As with all the Caution Items, not everyone stops clearing on all these things. Some people are more sal-sensitive than others. And some people will be affected by the Blue dye while others aren’t.

So there you have it. If blue dye can keeping you from getting well, isn’t it worth the effort so you can clear better and reverse more of your fibromyalgia symptoms? <3
