Generic Guaifenesin and the protocol

Generic guaifenesin
There has been alot of discussion about this! And alot of excitement! I know ALOT of our members are going to try it whether we as admins are ready for it or not lol! It’s just too easy to get and likely cheaper!!

Here’s what we’ve concluded and some advice to help you be successful:

At first, we thought it was going to be all ER (Extended Release/ Long Acting) which is what we need for the protocol to dose twice a day. But now we see that some of them have on the package both ER and IR. We have also seen that the old generic guai has blue dye as seen at CVS stores.

Please note that we have not been able to get in touch with them to see how much IR is in the pills. I am going with the assumption that they are using 100mg IR/FA and 500mg ER/LA in each pill, same as Mucinex. We will update you as we have more info

Please see this post on the blue dye issue AND the FA issue of Mucinex on the protocol. This will help you understand the WHY behind our suggestions. Don’t use the ones with blue dye. Not worth the risk of slowing down clearing and overall energy production. Much like Mucinex.

If at all possible, use Fibro pharmacy guaifenesin to find your clearing dose at the beginning of starting the protocol. start with the 300mg twice a day as per the instructions in the book. You can switch to generic once you find your dose.

So, once you know your clearing dose, this is how you dose with generic:

If you clear at 300mg ER/LA twice a day. Per day, you will only be getting 500mg ER/LA of the generic and 100mg IR/FA per day. In order to get the full 600mg a day. This is what you need to take: 300mg twice a day, PLUS another 1/4 of a pill. Use a pill cutter so you get less crumbs left over. You will be getting a total of 750mg (ish). This should cover the total ER/LA that you need.

If you clear at 600mg ER/LA twice per day. Per day, you will only be getting 1000mg ER/LA of the generic and 200mg IR/FA per day. In order to get the full 1200mg per day to clear, this is what you need to take: 600mg twice a day, PLUS another 1/2 a pill. Use a pill cutter so you get less crumbs left over. You will be getting a total if 1500mg (ish). This should cover the total ER/LA that you need to clear.

It’s alot of numbers so if you’re foggy, skip down to “If you clear at…” and then “this is what you need to take…”

Hope this helps! Hang in there everyone! It seems confusing, but it will get so much easier as time goes You’ll get used to all the vocab for the guaifenesin protocol, I promise!

I have a client with fibro and chronic fatigue, and sence she has been on the guaifenesin protocal i’ve noticed a big differance in her from when I first started working for her 3 years ago. It was exstreamly hard for me to see her in such pain, now she gets out of bed and goes outside on nice days. Your web site has been a big help to her and I both. Thank you. Sincerly, loise

Thanks for the heads up on this generic brand, Christine. It does not seem to be available in Canada, and is sold out online at Walmart, USA. I will be curious to see how others like it.
