Mock Tea! Low in Salicylates

YES! There IS an option if you had to give up tea because of Salicyaltes! :)

YES! There IS an option if you had to give up tea because of Salicyaltes! πŸ™‚

So, this is something I’ve been making for a long time now and just never got around to posting it. But it’s so yummy and just such a WONDERFUL option for those of us on the Guaifenesin Protocol who give up tea in order to get our health back.

And it’s so so simple, you will be just tickled pink when you get this figured out! πŸ™‚

So, in my big ‘tea pot’ shown above, I put these in, you can mix and match, play around with it till you get something you like:

mock tea spices :)

mock tea spices πŸ™‚

a few slices of fresh/dried ginger

pinch of Anise

1 tsp cloves

1 tsp allspice

approx 2 tsp cinnamon sticks- I crush them to smaller pieces, keep them in a jar for easy use πŸ™‚

Steep for an hour or just a few minutes. The longer you steep them, the more flavor and color. I leave mine over night and put it in the fridge the next day. I make mine really strong. Then all I have to do when I want tea is boil some water and pour a little of the pre-made cold tea in there. Works great!

**Please note** Any spice tea that is highly concentrated can block! The idea is to just add a little flavor, not a treatment or tincture to help your health! If yours is very concentrated, please dial it back a bit, just so you’re sure you aren’t blocking your Guaifenesin. A stronger tea is not worth your health and reversal of symptoms! <3

Another option is to try frozen berries in your boiling water! Totally tastes like herbal tea! πŸ™‚ I like them frozen because they seem to release more juices and color than fresh πŸ™‚

Add some sweetener if you like that, and/or some milk! Enjoy πŸ™‚

Check out my Steamer recipe too, for another great sal-free option πŸ™‚

    Hi Christine,
I remember talking to Cheryl Kowalewski during one of the meetings about brewing dry berries and she told me that it was not OK to do while on the protocol πŸ™

    • Christine says:

hey Ela! I heard back from Cheryl and she said you don’t have to worry about brewing berries. But again, she said everything in moderation! If you concentrate it so that it’s super strong, then you could block on it. I do 3 or 4 strawberries in a mug of boiling water and that is fine πŸ™‚ so just keep it a normal amount- small handful- and you will be fine πŸ™‚

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year πŸ™‚

  2. Ela says:

maybe because I mentioned dry berries not frozen?

    • Christine says:

oh, I have never heard that!!! Maybe being dry, you would use more? I only use a few berries per cup. Not sure if that makes a difference or not though. I contacted her to ask her about this, thanks! I’ll get back to you when I find out from her πŸ™‚

Hi Christine, I have heard a lot about Salicylates blocking, mostly from your mom. For healthy people, are Salicylates a bad thing? I could check with Mr. Google, but, there is so much mis-information there, that I would rather ask you.
    Thanks! 😎

    • Christine says:

Hi Aunt Penny! THanks for visiting my site! πŸ™‚ I am no expert, but from what I have read, some people are sensitive or allergic to salicylates so they also need to stay away from them, but other than that, only people on the guaifenesin protocol need to worry about salicylates. Salicylates are a natural and healthy part of plants, veggies and fruits. TO eliminate them from our diets would be very difficult, so unless you need to, don’t try it! Hope that helps! <3
