Dec 1 2016. Elizabeth is a dear friend of mine with Fibromyalgia who has been on the Guaifenesin protocol for several years now and doing so well she is in nursing school and wants to use her practice to help people with Fibromyalgia! SO awesome!! 🙂 She shared her story with my support group today and she willingly allowed me to share it here too!
Thank you sweet friend! <3
“Before the protocol I could barely go from bed to couch and take care of my kids. I was in horrible pain 24 hours a day, which meant I was constantly exhausted. I lived a “crunchy granola mom life” I treated my kids with oils, herbals, and homeopathy. I only used allopathic medicine when those did not resolve the issues…
So, turns out that there is this gene that makes some people deathly allergic to mold, much like people with celiac are deathly allergic to gluten. UGH! I think I am one of them.
This is a YUMMY accident! YAY!
So, I was on a health kick, and trying to get away from store bought salad dressings and wanting salsa with my taco salad. So I threw this together! SUCCESS! 😀
I am throwing alot at you right now. Don’t let it overwhelm you, you are not alone. SO many of our members have gone through exactly what you are experiencing right now. The beginning part is the most tricky. We’re here to help.
So the FA layer on the Mucinex can mimic clearing– which means that you FEEL like you’re clearing because of the increase in symptoms you are looking for, but it could be not enough guai and just moving around the phosphates, redepositing them, making you feel horrible for no good reason.
In one Mucinex tab, you get only 500mg LA and 100mg FA. For most people, you need 600mg LA twice a day to clear.
This list is updated yearly thanks to Annette Perry! A huge job, so very thankful for her! As always, please do take a look at the ingredients on each package you buy to be sure it’s still salicylate-free.
**I do not recieve a commission or anything for providing this list. It’s just to help those who love Mary Kay and wish to find which items are sal-safe, feel free to continue to buy through whomever is your rep :)**
Mary Kay Salicylate-Free Products For Fibromyalgia Patients on the Guaifenesin Protocol*
MK Forever Diamonds Body Lotion Updated: August 2016
If you are not progressing as you should on the Guaifenesin protocol to treat your fibromyalgia, you might want to try a blocking test!
What this does is to test if you are blocking on Salicylates somewhere so you can cut it out and get back to clearing again! 🙂
Blocking tests are not totally accurate, especially if you are still in the beginning stages of finding your clearing dose and beginning to clear. It takes a while to know what clearing feels like to be able to tell the difference when you’re blocking. So your first year on the protocol, this test won’t really help you. It also won’t help you if you are far along in your clearing so that you wouldn’t get an increase in symptoms because you barely have any clearing left to do. 🙂
Cream of Cauliflower and ham soup using pureed cauliflower!
Ok, so I’ve been doing this for a while in my recipes, but figured it was about time I shared this awesome HG Diet tip!
I’m putting my cauliflower soup recipe in this post because it’s where I learned to do this! 🙂
I have tried all the HG diet safe flours like soy and gluten (YUCK!) Then I tried the other safe things that turns sauces slimy like Arrowroot powder, guar gum and xanthan gum EWWWW!
peeking through the pain
Life is hard. People say it, but who really believes it? Especially an optimist like me. Ah, to be a pessimist and just KNOW that life is going to be hard, and expect it. The Bible says not to be surprised when painful trials come our way. But me? Totally shocked every time. Stunned, immobilized. Like my foundation has been rocked and where do I stand? If life just sucks and that’s just it, what’s the point?
Ah, grasshopper, you have much to learn. (Speaking to myself.)
‘Normal food amounts’ on the guaifenesin protocol is referring to non-concentrated amounts.
So, coconut oil on your salad in the amount of a Tbsp is a normal amount of oil in a salad dressing, that is a normal food amount. Taking a few Tbsp of coconut oil in hot water on an empty stomach for some medicinal reason however, has too much salicylates and may block you. Taking a Tbsp of turmeric on an empty stomach to help reduce inflammation, WILL block you. However, a Tbsp of it in your pot of curry isn’t going to hurt you, it’s a normal food amount 🙂
What do I do when I am not home and don’t know if the soap in the bathroom I am using is salicylate free?
It is possible to not block on this soap. Especially if you are super careful about everything else. But remember- salicylates accumulate throughout the day. You can end up tipping over the edge to blocking your guaifenesin from working to reverse your fibromyalgia symptoms if you do too many things like this. It’s why I NEVER use other peoples soap unless I’m sure it’s sal-free.
