Salicylate Free Shampoo and Conditioner

Also, check out FibroFree’s list of Canadian products that are currently Sal free.

Please note, that these are subject to deletion at any time, as the ingredients often change on any given product. These lists are meant as a GUIDE to point you in a direction! Please take the time to read each and every ingredient in every item you buy to ensure your product is in fact salicylate free!!

There is a website that does sell ALL Salicylate free products if you would like to start off with something simple. It sure is alot easier!! 🙂 Just click here: Personal Basics by Andrea Rose

What I usually do, is take my old bottle with me as a guide, so I can compare the ingredient list instead of going from nothing. If you don’t have an old bottle to take with you, might I suggest you print off the entire page, with all the ingredients so you have some options? This helped me a great deal when I was first looking for Salicylate free products. They often won’t have the ONE that you are looking for and you will have no back up plan!

I have attempted to include a link attached to each product name that takes you to a picture of the product so that you will know what it looks like too! 🙂

Can I just say thank you for this!!?! I’ve spent hours online trying to find safe items and your blog finally got me pointed in the right direction. I just started the guai protocol 6 days ago and when one is tired all the time anyway, it’s hard to wade through all the ingredients/websites, etc. I can’t wait read more of your blog!

Christine, thank you for the shampoo & conditioner tips. I have fibromyalgia also, and have recently began a protocol after having a blood test called MRT (Mediator Release Test) which measures how the immune cells react to the foods and food chemicals that we eat. The ones that produce damaging effects by causing inflammation in the body’s tissues (this is what causes the pain) are eliminated from the diet. Salicylic acid is one of the chemicals that I tested to be reactive to so I now have to avoid it in food and skin products as well. My biggest obstacle is not knowing what to look for on the label. I am hoping you can direct me to an information source that will teach me all the different names of salicylates so that I can recognize them on a label.

    • Christine says:

WOW< that is so crazy! It's so very similar to what Dr St Amand says about Fibromyalgia! Have you read any of his stuff or my explanations? I am quite curious to see how you do with this. I do worry about cutting salicylates out of your diet though. For more info on finding Salicylate free products, click on the link at the top menu that says Fibromyalgia, then click on 'How to Find Salicylate Free Products.' I have a step by step guide to walk you through it. I have to stay away from Salicylates too, for a different reason however! ha!

      • Lisa says:

The test results indicate which foods (with lower levels of salicylates) that are more tolerable as well as those that are not, and that really agitate the inflammation. Some foods have added salicylates such as ice cream, baked goods, candy, chewing gum, soft drinks, gelatins, jams, cake mix, mint flavored foods. And of course as you know cosmetics, sunscreens, certain herbals, and most toothpaste. These are easily avoided if one has suffered enough

        • Christine says:

you are so right!! If your health is that effected by salicylates, it’s TOTALLY worth it! You totally should look into the Guaifenesin Protocol though! You are doing the hardest part already with your new diet, and Guaifenesin will reverse the symptoms of fibromyalgia.
Just to warn you though, the most popular google search result is a paper done about 20 years ago, when they didn’t know that salicylates block the effect of Guaifenesin. There are many advances they have made in the last 20 years! Keep in touch 🙂

  3. Anonymous says:

Sodium Benzoate is a salicylate as are yellow dyes 5 and 6, plus most fragrances have them, from what I have read.

    • Christine says:

oh yes, but for use for the Guaifenesin protocol it’s perfect 🙂 The miniscule amounts of sals in the fragrances will not cause problems for our needs. Are you allergic to salicylates? I am not versed in salicylate allergies so don’t really know how careful y’all have to be!!

Leave a lovely comment! I read and respond to all comments here and love to hear from you! <3
