Mom has always made fresh cranberry sauce from scratch, until I went to a potluck and found out there is a canned alternative! Can you say YUCK?! I didn’t even know the canned stuff existed! So, from then on, I started bringing my homemade cranberry sauce to all the functions and friends’ homes I went to for turkey dinner 😛
I had a friend over when I made some last time and she went on and on about how amazingly easy it is!
THEN, we went sugar free, and I had to find another way to still have yummy homemade Cranberry sauce! So, without further ado…
1 bag cranberries (frozen or fresh)
3/4 cup Xylitol
3 packages Splenda
1 cup water (just UNDER one cup)
Pour all into pot. bring to boil. Simmer 10 minutes. Serve!
Yes! It’s THAT simple!! 🙂
*** Please note, Cranberries are NOT allowed on the HG diet! If you are in the first couple months of doing the diet perfectly to heal your body, do NOT eat this!!
I use this recipe when we are having turkey dinner a couple times a year and I figure it can’t hurt me that often, as I LOVE cranberry sauce, so it’s either my sugar free homemade stuff or it’s the sugar-loaded stuff that everyone else makes! YOU Have to decide how to make it work for you during holidays! THIS works for me 🙂
What is your preference? Did you grow up with canned or homemade Cranberry Sauce?
