Guaifenesin Protocol

Most of what I know about fibromyalgia is from what I’ve lived through since I was a little girl and didn’t understand why everyone else had so much more fun playing than I did. All I wanted to do was sit. All the time. THEN I found a book that filled in all the blanks and showed me WHY I felt that way all my life and that there was something I could do to reverse it! The Guaifenesin Protocol is what I’m talking about. And no, it’s not just about taking a pill, you must do the whole protocol for it to actually work!

And YES! The Guaifenesin Protocol really works for Fibromyalgia!!

Listen to my audio file of this! Just click here.Β

OK, so I agree that the paper I posted on Fibromyalgia is a bit to chew on, so I will attempt to explain here in short what it is, and PLEASE correct me if you see anything wrong on here! All the information I share will be in light of my own life experiences with Fibromyalgia and what I have learned from Dr St Amand’s book, ‘What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Fibromyalgia’

People are BORN with Fibromyalgia, but for most people, the symptoms don’t kick your butt till later in life usually. You can have small things like ‘growing pains’, or bladder issues, or ‘prone to illness.’ And just live with it, and not know that there is possibly something else going on. Notice I said POSSIBLY! Not everything is Fibromyalgia! πŸ™‚

Basically, there is trouble with our Kidneys. Dr St Amand believes (after 50 years of study and thousands of patients) that our kidneys have a genetic defect and don’t eliminate phosphate from our bodies, so the body compensates by storing it all over the body, creating tender points, bumps, lumps and many other issues! Please refer to the paper mentioned earlier for the more exhaustive list of symptoms or click here πŸ™‚ Some of the most prevalent symptoms I have seen are these: Irritable Bowel Syndrome complaints, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Chronic bladder and yeast infection complaints, back, neck, sciatica, shoulder pain, post-nasal drip, sinus and nasal issues, sore feet, ankles, knees… the list goes ON and ON!

The only thing that works well to make the kidneys work as they should is pure Guaifenesin. But not only that! Before you run all over the internet searching Guaifenesin and reading ANCIENT papers on the studies done back in the 70’s, please hear me out! There is something that BLOCKS Guaifenesin from working, and they didn’t know about that when alot of those papers and studies were done. Thankfully, Dr St Amand has kept at it, determined to help his patients (and himself!) get well, not just cover symptoms with heavier, more addictive pain meds.

Salicylates are the culprit that keeps the Guaifenesin from working. Salicylates are in SO much of our foods and beauty products. We HAVE to have Salicylates in our foods to function properly! They are herbs, veggies, fruits, natural stuff like Mint and Aloe. But ON YOUR SKIN, and eaten in CONCENTRATED amounts, Salicylates block the Guaifenesin from working! So, minty toothpaste is out, aloe-infused shampoos, body washes and razors are out. Anything like, grapeseed oil, grapefruit extract, etc is out. Suddenly, I have become an expert on ingredients in my products! It is frustrating, let me tell you! I got so frustrated, I started to make my own creations! haha! Check out my post on How To find your own Salicyalte Free Products.Β A helpful list that I was given of the common cosmetic Ingredients that are Salicylate Free was given to me and I am sharing it with you, Hope it helps! πŸ™‚ and one more link that is new and I LOVE is this database on salicylates, all you have to do is put in your ingredients and it will tell you if they are salicylate free or not! πŸ™‚

Guaifenesin gets your kidneys to start getting rid of the phosphate that is stored all over, and at first, it comes out of your blood stream, which makes you feel GOOD! Then it starts to come OUT of the lumps, bumps and painful spots and it HURTS all over again! Thankfully, it goes out of the body about 6 times faster then going in! πŸ˜€ for some, (like me) it takes a couple years before you start to see a consistent positive change, for others, within a few months it’s better and then just keeps getting better. Your initial investment is going to hurt a BIT more than right now. It’s supposed to be an TOLERABLE increase in symptoms. They say how you would feel in 5 years WITHOUT Guaifenesin, is how you feel when you take Guaifenesin, for the first little while anyways. So, just get it over with right now and start getting your life back!! πŸ˜€

I’m in Ireland and had to come of the Guai after 6 mts as it was interfering with another condition I have, however staying sal free is still a must for me or my pain increases so much. Found your site today and it’s like a miracle. Some of make-up etc ingredients are so small that trying to read them even with a magnifying glass is hit and miss. Your search box suggests the mis-spelled words and approves them or not. Wonderful! I have had such a hard time as I have been avoiding Benzyl salicylate. Did not realise it was chemical and I can use it. No more despair in chemists etc. I will try with caution. Thank you, thank you so much.

oh that is wonderful Irene! So glad to be a help <3 salicylate sensitivities and allergies are much more common than I thought at first! I get lots of people to my site with that. Glad you got it figured out <3

Christine, love your site, I have just been diagnosed a year ago with fibro. I have recently read Dr St Armand s book. I am buying salicylate free products so, I think I am ready to begin. I have to see my dr and naturopath to see if either will subscribe guaifenesin and do mapping, I am not too hopeful. Do you know of a guaifenesin support group in bc, I live an hour or so out of Vancouver?
I see by the dates that you have been on the protocol for a while, are you finding any relief? I have tried so many things with not much help.
    Love to hear from you!

    • Christine says:

Hi Robyn! πŸ™‚ Good to hear from you! πŸ™‚
in BC? Where? We go to Abbotsford every summer to visit family, I live in Dawson Creek BC πŸ™‚ We could meet maybe!! How fun!! πŸ˜€ Also, if you are around Victoria, you can get the best guai in the world from there!!! Lucky you! Don’t worry about a dr to help. Just print off the form from Dr St Amand to Doctors and you might get someone to give you a script. That’s really all you can expect right now. Mapping WOULD be great though, if you can find someone willing to take the time to learn! Let us know so we can share the info!

We have a Kelsey in Kelowna if that is close to you? Other than that I don’t know for sure of any. We were keeping track of where everyone is from, trying to encourage people to reach out to each other, but it was very time consuming and not much came of it. Are you in our Facebook group yet? we have over 1000 members from around the world, you might find someone from your city! I let in new members beginning of each week. It will be a great support to you in the meantime!

Sounds like you are doing everything right and taking the time to be ready before starting! That’s AWESOME! You will have so much more success this way! πŸ™‚ Check out my post on Getting Started, just go through it to be sure you don’t miss anything! And keep in touch, I might be able to help πŸ™‚

Ok so I’m actually not the norm with the clearing. Most people are MUCH better than I am by now! But I am much better than I was back then too, so I don’t even care that I’m a bit slow πŸ™‚ I am well enough to Foster 2 6 yr old twin boys and teach French now, so that should say something? lol πŸ™‚

Christine, I have been on your site a lot and just realized you live in BC., so exciting! I see now why you make a lot of your products, I will gave to get out a map, Dawson Creek ! I live in Chilliwack, 25 min east of Abbotsford. I totally found the protocol by accident, googling a book of similar title. I read the book, got my sal free products and asked my local pharmasave about guai. I emailed Cheryl in Edmonton, she has been fantastic, and she said to call Kyle in Victoria as all guai comes from 2 wholesalers. Kyle said my compounding pharmacy would get the same guai as he does. I asked my awesome young , keen physio, gave her mapping info and she mapped me. I have now ordered her the DVD, plan on training her. So, I started 300 mg on May 4 after a few days my symptoms increased and after talking to Cheryl, stayed on 300 for 1 month. I got mapped again last Friday. My physio was amazed, she felt like my lumps were less. I sent my maps to Cheryl, I had some less and a few more, so I’m going to stay at this dose for another month and see. But, if I hadn’t got mapped I would not know, still in discomfort, most nights quite sore. I am on the California group and the Facebook group, love both, so informative and helpful. I am trying to convince my several fibro friends in town to read the book, but I totally understand, I tried so many things that did not help. So, as a low doser, not sure when I might expect to feel a little bit better? You are busy, I taught grade 1 for 24 years! Ok, I had better think about dinner, I have done too much today….so many questions for you… in touch! Robyn🌞

    • Christine says:

oh this sounds SO awesome!!! I am so excited for you! It sounds like you’ve done all the right things and started on the right track, yay! Now, it’s just the waiting! A low doser can have worse symptoms for years before feeling better, to be honest. 3 years is the longest I’ve heard. And when you hit that point, it just get’s SO much better SO fast πŸ™‚ Just stick to what Cheryl said and hang in there!! πŸ™‚

in the meantime, you REALLY need to keep a detailed symptom journal, it really did help me to see that I was actually improving in a few areas! It’s so hard to see those things when you are hit so hard with intense fatigue or pain though.

I am SOO excited about your mapper friend and the new guaifenesin with your local pharmacy! That’s fantastic! I really hope it’s a reliable one, it would be SO nice to have more options for people! Can you tell me how much he charges for your 300s? I might switch if he’s cheaper πŸ˜€

  4. Robyn Hall says:

Kyle at Estevan pharmacy in Victoria reassured me his guai would be the same as my pharmacy, if the pharmacy is reputable, and my Dr said yes. I love my pharmasave, very health conscious and so informative for all the different things I have tried, they are excited and want to hear my results. I bet your sister could get it for you, or order it. Pharmasave on spadina in Chilliwack, the compounding guy is Chris, he said he makes it all the time. I got 100 guai, 300 mg, SR, I sure hope that is right, I took the info from the protocol site. Sorry, I sent in the receipt to get reimbursed but, I think it was around $39. A phone call or email to them would let you know.

  5. Robyn Hall says:

I phoned Kyle and talked to him. At my pharmasave his name is Chris, worth a call to check out prices. I would assume the same but, let me know too!

Leave a lovely comment! I read and respond to all comments here and love to hear from you! <3
